It’s already SEPTEMBER and it’s the month of the year again! Filipinos like me usually see the BER month (SeptemBER) as a sign or hint to start the CHRISTMAS countdown. Yes, we Filipinos kinda start the Christmas celebration or preparation as early as September. Some may find it odd or a bit “over” but for a Filipino like me, it’s just fine, normal and a deep part of our tradition.
For other countries or nationalities, September is not the time for their Christmas preparation. Usually, it’s the month wherein they are starting to prepare for a big HALLOWEEN event, party or gathering. It’s the month wherein the sales for Halloween costumes, Halloween decorations and even printable pumpkin carving patterns and stencils are starting to shoot up. This is quite different for the Philippines though. In here, there are already Christmas decorations on sale, lanterns and even online Christmas gift ideas are starting to shoot up. For example, Zalora.Com.Ph now offers online Christmas Rush Bazaar wherein they showcase gift ideas that gives you a head start for your holiday shopping. I am checking it out while writing this very article and I can say they have quite good products on sale.
And oh, about the title, where, I can’t think of any that will fit this article so I just inserted the song title of one of my favorite band: GREEN DAY. In case you like them too, here is the official music video of their song.
TRIVIA ABOUT THE SONG TITLE:
Wanna know how this song was made, on September 1st, 1982, Billy’s (lead singer) father died from cancer, he ran home during the funeral and locked himself in his room, when his mom got home, she knocked on his door, and he replied, ‘Wake me up when September ends…’ Hence, the title. Source
