In modern times the idea of divorce is no longer considered a taboo. The majority of marriages end up in divorce these days and I am even a victim of a split family. Divorce can be tough on the individual as well as the entire family. How each person handles it can be very different and depend on how bad of a breakup occurred and what their particular background is. Men and women tend to deal with emotions and negative experiences in different ways. Women often need someone to talk to and and have support from others while men need to usually blow of steam and concentrate their energy into physical activity or other hobbies. No way is wrong, and as long as it provides a healthy means of moving on and coping with the situation then go for it.
Meet New Women
One of the options men tend to gravitate towards is dating other women to keep up their spirit and confidence. People start to doubt their self worth and value as a spouse after a divorce and need to feel accepted by others. Maybe they are not really ready to commit to another relationship right away, but the feeling of being desired and having attention can be a huge outlet and distraction from the negative emotional baggage left over from their ex wife. Dating today can consist of several different methods. You have speed dating events, online websites, or maybe a blind date setup by a friend. The websites can provide an immediate outlet to concentrate on by setting up a profile and being easily connected to other singles that interest you. Don’t be that person that just needs a rebound, take it slow and rebuild your confidence with this second chance given to you to find happiness.
Travel Somewhere New
Another outlet is taking a trip or traveling. Some of us are adrenaline junkies and need a thrill to keep us going. There is nothing better than to be excited from the rush of being in a dangerous situation. Dangerous but controlled of course, you don’t want to cross that line of being so dangerous as to do something that could be fatal. Enjoy some mountain climbing or, river rafting, sky diving, bungee jumping, surfing, and so on. That is the great thing about the outdoors there are so many fun tings to do that will demand your attention and promise a good time. In addition, visiting other places or even moving for a short period of time can provide you with the clarity of mind necessary to pick yourself up and keep moving foward.
Changing it up
Some of us just want to re-invent ourselves and start a new life. This may include moving cities or states, even just finding a new home, getting a new job, or something as simple as a new hair style. Sometimes a change can be good; having a new look can invigorate your spirits and help you to move on in a positive light, while moving will force you to go out and explore your surroudings which will lead to interactions with new people. Finding yourself in a new place, making new friends and expanding your social circle can be both exciting and theraputic when you know you are making a positive change.
Get A New Hobby
Developing new hobbies are also a good way to find yourself again. You may discover talents that you never new you had. Seize the opportunity of your new found freedom and do those things that you always wanted to do in the past but just didn’t have the time. Learning a new instrument or language are both ways to broaden your horizons and also focus your attention on something positive.
Spend Time With Family
If you have kids, take the time to be involved in their life. On of the most important things you can do in a divorce is set a solid foundation of support and trust with them. Depending on their age they may take it hard or not seem to care. What’s important is that you show them how much you care and will always be there for them. Engage in activities like sports or school to help yourself still be tied to the family that you built and be proud of everything you have accomplished up to this point.
