Macy’s sponsors this annual Fourth of July fireworks display, beginning in 1976. It’s the company’s way to display American patriotism and national pride.
Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks Display is usually held over the East River in New York City. It has been always televised nationwide by NBC since 1976. Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks display was returned in 2009, to the Hudson River for the first time since 2000 to commemorate the 400th anniversary of Henry Hudson’s exploration of that river.
